The remuneration, benefits, training and acknowledgement they offer to the sportsmen is a thing to applaud. They are well-known for growing young talents into skilled players. They have the best in class facilities for almost all sports. They are a nation that truly appreciates the glory of sports. In fact, a lot of sports thrive in their lands. Their sportsmen can compete with other sporting super powers such as the US, Australia, and China.    Although almost all kinds of Sports flourish in the UK, the most notable ones are: Football, Hockey, Rugby, Cricket, Motorsports, and Tennis. They are home to few memorable sporting events and tournaments that attract the fans worldwide. Few of their stadia are elegant that every sportsman would like to be someday. FIFA World Cup 2018 ~ Prospects

Image
Every time a FIFA World cup year comes, the fans get excited. Football, which has the biggest following in the world, gets to see the biggest names and evergreen performances in the club level. However, many stars fail to make an impression on the big stages with the National level. Even biggest stars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have had outings where they failed to take their nation ahead in the crucial World cup matches. It is that time, when the entire nation depends on the entire team, with few star performers who have glorified the club football. Some new names leave a mark. James Rodriguez offered a stellar performance in the last world cup, which saw him to Real Madrid. Players like Claudio Bravo and Keylor Navas were at their best in the last world cup. That helped them to secure a place in the top clubs of Europe. With over a fortnight to go for the kick-off of this year’s FIFA world cup, let us look at the prospects of few teams which have the potential

Clubs - Of Madrid, Milan, Chennai, and Bangalore

Football clubs have prospered ever since they have been formed. The fans and popularity have been increasing worldwide. Clubs like AC Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona have history by their side.  Their success in the domestic leagues and European competitions have been phenomenal. They play almost one game a week for the whole year without rest. These clubs have the best players who are highly talented. The media, newspapers, websites, and social media networking sites celebrate the achievements of the club and the players.  After every domestic and European success, the players parade their trophy through the city. The fans surround and greet them for all their hard work and entertainment. The visuals from Madrid and Milan after their club achievements are spectacular.  These football clubs have a big fan following in India as well. Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United have a big support in India.

Infocus - Christopher Nolan

Hollywood has had many talented Directors who made movies interesting to watch. We got to know lots of history from their movies. Most of them left a mark hard to forget. They were able to show true feelings on screen with some best performances by few legendary actors. The script was the powerful tool and every Director had his own style of execution. There wasn't much Science involved in the story. The focus was on the characters, dialogues, and acting. During the recent times, a lot of Science has been used in the movies. Concepts like Non-Linear narration, Flashbacks and Flash Forwards in the screenplay, Same incidents from different angles, Unfolding of the story from different perspectives, Concepts of illusion, and Time Travel etc.  Directors like Alejandro Gonzalez Inarittu, David Fincher, and Christopher Nolan have been using this innovative method of storytelling by evoking the interests in the audience through their complex methods in the screenplay.  N

A tribute to Cricket South Africa

Image
There may be fans who hate certain Cricket Teams. For instance, the Australians have a long-lasting rivalry with the English. Many Indian fans hate the Aussies for their frequent indulgence in sledging. The Pakistanis have the biggest enemy in India and battle hard to win matches against them. However, all Cricket fans, love the way Cricket South Africa has entertained the sport over the last two decades. Much similar to the abundant talents bestowed with Cricketing superpowers like Australia and India, Cricket SA as well enjoyed some great teams with great players decorating the sport. Cricket SA has always been a firm believer in hard work. Every member of the squad played tirelessly to win games. In fact, they are probably the only nation in the world who don't play mind games and focus completely on their performance. In terms of fair play and good sporting behavior, they always rank the best. This is despite few bad luck which they suffered in their crucial matches.

Losing Ourselves #India

Image
Mahatma Gandhi, once visualized that the biggest weapon to dethrone the British was to avoid trading with them and buying Indian made products. He felt that a Nation can be broken into pieces by adopting a strict trading methodology. Most of the freedom fighters believed in his vision and used products manufactured by Indians. That Philosophy stands even today with the US imposing strict trade curbs on countries like Iran, China, North Korea, and Russia. From imposing trading sanctions to letting increase in the Oil supplies, to destabilize few economies, the US has started to feel the necessity to utilize its own natural resources. The US still stands to be a major exporter with almost half of the world’s innovations coming from them. The roots are with them and it is their ideas that trigger the business and the global markets. They make use of the less labor costs in India and China and expand their business. Of late, the Europe has been a mere puppet with following the r

Has Cricket lost its identity?

Even today, Indians remember the day when they took on the mighty West Indies in the 1983 World cup and out of all the odds of them being the underdogs managed to win the ever-invincible West Indies team to grab the glittering world cup. The rivalry between India and Australia in the Test matches went on for years with Sunil Gavaskar being dominant in the Test format of Cricket, which ruled the sport until the 80s. Back then, it was magical to win a Test match on a foreign soil let alone win the series. The players had to be perfect in batting and bowling to create little chances which were vital in deciding the outcome of the game. The matches were intense, fierce. Every player wanted to make a mark for their nation and to enable the team to win. It was a 50-50 game for the batsmen and the bowlers. 250 was a good score back then and 200 was defend-able. For every run the players had to run and sweat. It was difficult to score boundaries and every shot which resulted in a boundary w

Money Money !!

Money is the vital factor that drives our lives. In fact, we have started to believe that the search and fulfillment of life depends solely on the accumulation of wealth. Although Yogic and Religious Gurus spread the need of Inner Engineering, Health and getting to know the divine power, we have always ignored them and felt that Money as the only element to seek and have it as our destiny. Since it gives all the worldly powers of life, we have lost ourselves in it. We run behind it like animals. Our milestones and targets are about getting enough of it. Since it speaks volumes in our daily life, we have become a product/slave of it. We spend almost half our day at work and it directly involves in doing business. Thus, it has become the integral part of our life and we spend our time in accumulating it. Let us look at this in a witty way about how the economy drives us. How we are manipulated and how we lose/gain money. The EURO is getting weaker and the European society is on th

Dominance of Spanish Football Clubs

It is tough for an English club to win the premier league than Barcelona/Real Madrid to win La Liga. The premier league is more physical and requires greater fitness for the players to be on top of the games and win the league. However even an injured Messi or Ronaldo can bring goals to their clubs in La Liga. Having said that is Premier league the best in the world? In terms of the battle and number of abled clubs challenging the title, yes! However, the Spanish Clubs have been the best in European competitions. Barcelona and Real Madrid have been dominating UEFA Champions league over the last decade and the feat they have achieved is phenomenal. Both the clubs have reached Quarter final and Semi Finals for record times than any other English/Other clubs. English clubs have been battling hard even to reach the round of 16. Although Arsenal have the record of qualifying for Champions League continuously over the last 2 decades, they have struggled a lot to overcome the round of

Learning from other countries

The USA has been a pioneer in Science and Technology over the last 4-5 centuries. Almost all innovations and discoveries have come from them. Their contributions are so immense that are referred and followed globally. Lots of Scientific discoveries have come from them. Even today, lots of IT software innovations and new products are developed by them for use in business. They solely have been able to drive the world forward. Although India has several cultural references of being a pioneer in Science, we have not been able to take any innovative steps in this sector. The Education system in India has improved yet we still lag other countries. Many of Indian workers of today are outsourced to the USA and they seem to perform well but they are merely users of others’ creations. We are not able to drive Science, Technology, Space, Medical, Defence sectors which enjoy major budget globally. The USA has stormed IT business and has been developing new and innovative products at large for

[90s ~ A Celebration] - Movies #India

90s was the time when Movies in South India flourished. We had Superstars like Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mammooty and Mohan Lal rise to stardom by delivering Mega Hit films. The films were made in such a way that satisfied their fan following. Every movie they acted earned well at the box office and left unforgettable impressions in the minds of their fans. This coupled with good Music from Music Directors like Ilayaraja took the movie to greater heights. The songs were memorable and even today they are heard back to back on several FM Radio stations. The magic weaved by the songs were unthinkable. S P Balasubramaniyam and KJ Yesudas ruled the vocals. Lots of small budget films with family as the themes did well. Comedy was glorified and the films attained cult status. It was the time when Goundamani-Senthil duo reached maximum stardom and the beginning of the Vadivelu-Vivek era. The performances by these Comedians are even remembered and followed big even today. The Ac
