Atheism - A Fashion?

Ever since this universe got created and mankind was born, the faith on God existed. He was considered to be the supreme power - the creator of all. Dozens of Ramavatars and Krishnavatars were believed to have been happened spanning hundreds of thousands of years. The total lifecycle was considered cyclic with the current Kalyug to have been completed over a dozen times. Vedas, Religion, Spirituality flourished in India and our contry is considered to be the home of God. Over 80 lacs living things and crores of Gods in various forms were believed to exist. Most of our epics and stories were based on Gods and of their different Avatars. The way we live our life was based on the categorizations made in Vedas. Although we have deviated largely from them due to the advacement in Science and Technology, there are still people who live the defined way, by staying dedicated to Gods and of their worship.

The very new concept of Atheism was born over two centuries ago mainly as a result of the way of life people lived. It came as a result of a certain section of people considered untouchable and were rejected entry into the streets and temples where Brahmins lived. The Atheists' argument was everyone is equal and should not be denied from any benefits that every others receive. Due to frustration, inequality and desperation, this movement formed and gained attention. There were lots of people at that time who wished to ignore the advancements in Science in the rest of the world and continued living the same way as they did before. Common man's interests were buried. This was the primary mistake committed at that time which eventually led to the grouping of so-called extremists who wanted every common man to be treated equally. They believed in mother nature and didn't have faith in God.

Although the very formation of this group made sense and it is true that everyone must be treated equally irrespective of castes, it is also true that there are specific duties that must be discharged by people who are designed to do, as per our vedas. Brahmins were supposed to do service and Pujas to God. Kshtariyas were to protect the world. Vaishyas were to do service to the people. Due to advancements in Science, and with the world rapidly growing, everything has turned upside down. Especially in Tamil Nadu, the Dravidian parties brought Atheism to a new level and started hating Brahmins. They were oriented towards uplifting people who are categorically backward. Most of them were denied education and from other benefits during the 19th century. This led to the agitation and uptrend of the Dravidian parties to do the propaganda of Atheism and injected this into the minds of the people. What was good was that every common man was started to get recognized and treated well. He was given to exercise more powers and the quality of life increased. But this has led to the disbelief in God, hurting the sentiments and injuring Brahmins to a great extent.

After all these years, after all these technological innovations, now in our country law has been designed to treat all equally but especially in TN, things have lopsided. The once categoricaly backward have started to get all benefits right from schooling, education, employment etc. The Brahmins have started to become economically backward. They are denied jobs, have limited seats in education and work. The very concept of why Atheism began is still there but has taken a wrong direction. Merit concept has almost ceased to apply in education and work. Promotions are denied for Open Caste category. Nowadays it has become a trend a fashion to call oneself an Atheist. The reason for all the fights and the establishment of Atheism is grounded. The country with 60% of youths now have to grow and one can grow, develop and improve the system only if merit system comes back in place. Although the primitive reason of educating the categorically backward, their upliftment and improvisation of their lives matter and is required along with providing monetary benefits and free education and quota at work, talent must also be given a chance in this fast moving/changing market. Time has come to modify the policies of Atheists and to make them remember and appreciate why they were formed. If they continue to respect the current system in the world and act accordingly it would be beneficial for the people and the country.
