Digital India

The time has come for us to move towards digitalization with the new technologies in place and its efficiency has increased over the years. The Indian Gov has been taking enormous step, like never before, to ensure a digital world to be embraced by the mammoth population the country holds. Linking of Aadhar to mobile connections, PAN and bank account have been a huge step towards maintaining integrity. While these steps by the Govt has to be appreciated, still the prospect of imposing them on the people and asking them to adhere to it in a short span of time, is relentful. People have to be made aware of it, they must be educated towards the need of it and with their understanding this policy must be put to practice and adequate time has to be given towards its completion.

Usage of Plastic cards instead of money is welcomed by the Govt. but it is not enough to encourage users. Still there are millions of uneducated people who don't know to use mobile phones, leave alone using ATM cards. Govt. should first try to educated people towards this and then implement these practices. Brownie points or little monetary benefits could be given to the merchants and consumers to encourage digitization. This drive must come from the Govt. Instead of imposing these terms on the people, awareness has to be spread and people have to feel its importance and embrace it. Of course, experts know that cashless transactions would increase openness, minimize tax evasion, increase Govt. balance sheet, curb black money, reduce inflation and do much more that we can think of but, it is also to be understood that we are not a completely developed nation. We are still in the development phase and not everyone would welcome Govt.'s decision of nullifying cash transactions would be received well.

All we can do is hope for the people to understand the benefits and imagine the welfare it could bring and then put it in place. Till then the Govt. must maintain soft hands and respect the people for what they are. We are still miles ahead of being a completely digitized economy and it is for sure to take a while. Policies like demonetization caused havoc with people suffering from using the old currency in hospitals and faced huge crisis in their everyday life for over 3 months. Such new policies are welcome but proper arrangements, like printing new currency notes should have been done and released in the market for consumers should have been done before implementing these kind of policies. A common man should not be affected by new trends. If the Govt. understands and appreciates the feelings and ability of a common man, he will always be ready to be a part of building a new India.
