All Glory is Fleeting

Image
Having been a Superstar Far out of reach from my competitors While was fighting my war Saw off all the opponents with fervour I was the talk of the town A sensational Victor, a Legend Whoever fought me, went down With insurmountable losses that wouldn’t mend Game after game – I won Cruising along, I feared none Like a tall mountain that stood with pride Glory was on my stride Like the never-ending waves, I marched Watching me unstoppable, my rivals parched Precision and Perfection Took me to new levels of elation Millions of fans celebrated my victory As I was creating history Like the beaming sunlight that descends upon the earth With some brilliant plays, I took away my fan’s breath After few everlasting success The winds seemed to recess Age and injury took a toll When the new players had a roll Every game I lost gave me pain And failures started to rain The end of an era – some called My ideas and execution fla...

No to Racism

The long tiring seasons of domination With no freedom to express our thoughts Our endless fears on relentless starvation Deep down inside struck with blood clots The never-ending saga of Oppression Our family and kids dealt with humiliation When earning bread and butter became tedious The entire world that slaved us turned joyous For long we battled for equal rights Pleaded for acknowledgment and respect The feel of free air left far away from our sights Betrayed even by the Gods who ignored to protect Our stories and history written in blood With our men and women beaten for fun In our struggles alone we stood With our heads down, fearing for the gun Together we were in our mission Slowly the winds of rebel gained support Few good hearts understood our vision And bailed us from the ocean of dirt We work hard in driving the economy But still few see us as an enemy Before we think we have succeeded, we have miles to go To let th...

A tribute to Cricket South Africa

Image
There may be fans who hate certain Cricket Teams. For instance, the Australians have a long-lasting rivalry with the English. Many Indian fans hate the Aussies for their frequent indulgence in sledging. The Pakistanis have the biggest enemy in India and battle hard to win matches against them. However, all Cricket fans, love the way Cricket South Africa has entertained the sport over the last two decades. Much similar to the abundant talents bestowed with Cricketing superpowers like Australia and India, Cricket SA as well enjoyed some great teams with great players decorating the sport. Cricket SA has always been a firm believer in hard work. Every member of the squad played tirelessly to win games. In fact, they are probably the only nation in the world who don't play mind games and focus completely on their performance. In terms of fair play and good sporting behavior, they always rank the best. This is despite few bad luck which they suffered in their crucial matches. ...

Has Cricket lost its identity?

Even today, Indians remember the day when they took on the mighty West Indies in the 1983 World cup and out of all the odds of them being the underdogs managed to win the ever-invincible West Indies team to grab the glittering world cup. The rivalry between India and Australia in the Test matches went on for years with Sunil Gavaskar being dominant in the Test format of Cricket, which ruled the sport until the 80s. Back then, it was magical to win a Test match on a foreign soil let alone win the series. The players had to be perfect in batting and bowling to create little chances which were vital in deciding the outcome of the game. The matches were intense, fierce. Every player wanted to make a mark for their nation and to enable the team to win. It was a 50-50 game for the batsmen and the bowlers. 250 was a good score back then and 200 was defend-able. For every run the players had to run and sweat. It was difficult to score boundaries and every shot which resulted in a boundary w...

A tribute to Sachin Tendulkar

Is there any Cricket fan who doesn't like this man? The Whole of India believes and says, "If Cricket is our religion, Sachin is our God". If we look at his contribution towards the sport, it has been phenomenal. More than a player he stood in the sport's fans as a true player and legend. All of the cricketing nations respect him and we as Indians celebrate him. The Bharat Ratna of India. I started to watch Cricket since 1996 and the only reason to watch the game was him. His unique approach towards the sport, his style and his versatility dragged me on to the game. The very reason of liking the sport was his method of play, his behaviour on/off the field. He was a true gentleman to the game and he loved the sport with atmost passion. We as fans wanted him to score century in every single match and he definitely satisfied us with his glorious career scoring 100 100s in the Internationals. He was fearless and agile towards the opponents and ripped them apart ...
