There will be Blood

Every time when the  Tamilians   were oppressed , they have gotten back strong. For over hundreds of years, in the name of tradition, the socially backward communities  were prevented  from accessing the temples. It wasn’t the mistake of the Brahmins, but the society  was tuned  to believe that way. Probably because of the lack of knowledge or fear from its consequences, cerain sections of the people made the  Tamilians  suffer from getting their rights acknowledged. Few leaders like  Periyar , tried to bring equal rights for all. The Dravidian parties carried his legacy forward and till today they thrive on it. The Brahmins have realized and understood  the importance of  bringing the socially backward people, up the stages. Today, irrespective of caste and religion, the  Tamilians  live in harmony. There was always a force available within us which showed up during the most difficult situations. Whenever we wer...

Losing Ourselves #India

Image
Mahatma Gandhi, once visualized that the biggest weapon to dethrone the British was to avoid trading with them and buying Indian made products. He felt that a Nation can be broken into pieces by adopting a strict trading methodology. Most of the freedom fighters believed in his vision and used products manufactured by Indians. That Philosophy stands even today with the US imposing strict trade curbs on countries like Iran, China, North Korea, and Russia. From imposing trading sanctions to letting increase in the Oil supplies, to destabilize few economies, the US has started to feel the necessity to utilize its own natural resources. The US still stands to be a major exporter with almost half of the world’s innovations coming from them. The roots are with them and it is their ideas that trigger the business and the global markets. They make use of the less labor costs in India and China and expand their business. Of late, the Europe has been a mere puppet with f...

Has Cricket lost its identity?

Even today, Indians remember the day when they took on the mighty West Indies in the 1983 World cup and out of all the odds of them being the underdogs managed to win the ever-invincible West Indies team to grab the glittering world cup. The rivalry between India and Australia in the Test matches went on for years with Sunil Gavaskar being dominant in the Test format of Cricket, which ruled the sport until the 80s. Back then, it was magical to win a Test match on a foreign soil let alone win the series. The players had to be perfect in batting and bowling to create little chances which were vital in deciding the outcome of the game. The matches were intense, fierce. Every player wanted to make a mark for their nation and to enable the team to win. It was a 50-50 game for the batsmen and the bowlers. 250 was a good score back then and 200 was defend-able. For every run the players had to run and sweat. It was difficult to score boundaries and every shot which resulted in a boundary w...

Money Money !!

Money is the vital factor that drives our lives. In fact, we have started to believe that the search and fulfillment of life depends solely on the accumulation of wealth. Although Yogic and Religious Gurus spread the need of Inner Engineering, Health and getting to know the divine power, we have always ignored them and felt that Money as the only element to seek and have it as our destiny. Since it gives all the worldly powers of life, we have lost ourselves in it. We run behind it like animals. Our milestones and targets are about getting enough of it. Since it speaks volumes in our daily life, we have become a product/slave of it. We spend almost half our day at work and it directly involves in doing business. Thus, it has become the integral part of our life and we spend our time in accumulating it. Let us look at this in a witty way about how the economy drives us. How we are manipulated and how we lose/gain money. The EURO is getting weaker and the European society is on th...

Learning from other countries

The USA has been a pioneer in Science and Technology over the last 4-5 centuries. Almost all innovations and discoveries have come from them. Their contributions are so immense that are referred and followed globally. Lots of Scientific discoveries have come from them. Even today, lots of IT software innovations and new products are developed by them for use in business. They solely have been able to drive the world forward. Although India has several cultural references of being a pioneer in Science, we have not been able to take any innovative steps in this sector. The Education system in India has improved yet we still lag other countries. Many of Indian workers of today are outsourced to the USA and they seem to perform well but they are merely users of others’ creations. We are not able to drive Science, Technology, Space, Medical, Defence sectors which enjoy major budget globally. The USA has stormed IT business and has been developing new and innovative products at large for ...

[90s ~ A Celebration] - Movies #India

90s was the time when Movies in South India flourished. We had Superstars like Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mammooty and Mohan Lal rise to stardom by delivering Mega Hit films. The films were made in such a way that satisfied their fan following. Every movie they acted earned well at the box office and left unforgettable impressions in the minds of their fans. This coupled with good Music from Music Directors like Ilayaraja took the movie to greater heights. The songs were memorable and even today they are heard back to back on several FM Radio stations. The magic weaved by the songs were unthinkable. S P Balasubramaniyam and KJ Yesudas ruled the vocals. Lots of small budget films with family as the themes did well. Comedy was glorified and the films attained cult status. It was the time when Goundamani-Senthil duo reached maximum stardom and the beginning of the Vadivelu-Vivek era. The performances by these Comedians are even remembered and followed big even today. The Ac...

Women Empowerment

Until the last decade, in India, Women were considered to be the weaker section and they have been constantly dominated by Men. They were oppressed on all grounds. Men were supposed to drive the family and the country while women were supposed to serve Men. The Mentality of the Men were towards suppressing the needs and benefits of the Women. Several Leaders fought for the empowerment of Women and after dozens of centuries, finally people begun to believe in its necessity after getting to know how Women were treated in other countries. Media started to highlight the need for it and there were large movements in support of Women Empowerment in India. And the need was not just the need to bring them up but to prove their muscle against Men who weren’t that skilled but merely existed because of non-competition. First, Girls started to score more than Boys at schools. Year after year they topped the board exams despite the physical challenges they face. They started to rule Movies w...

90s ~ A Celebration #India

For almost all of them in this world, the most joyous time that they had spent in their life would be their childhood days. Especially the early school days where we used to have lots of fun apart from rigorous studies which follows. Yet we never failed to miss the fun that we had with our friends. The best of friends came from those days and rest of the acquaintances that we had after that weren’t as powerful as the ones we had during our school. Our hearts were pure and was ready to offer any help without expecting anything in return. We were built by our friends, parents and teachers. So, the most important memories were during our early school days. Since I was born in the 80s I could fully absorb the vital things that came with the 90s. I was able to fully exploit and enjoy the 90s as far as possible. Till date I never felt at any instance that I had the most memorable moments at any point in time other than the 90s. I was studious as hell but that didn’t avoid me from enjoy...

How India can move to becoming a Rich Nation

For any country to be under the tag of a developed nation there are lots of parameters that are required to be satisfied. The parameters include - infrastructure, Healthcare, ease of doing business, employment, investor friendly environment, less Tax, Good Education, Productivity, Advancements in Science and Technology, Automation, Innovation, Raising wage margins of the poor, Less imports etc. India as a country with over 1.4 billion people has its own challenges to become a developing nation – let alone have the dream of becoming a developed one. A lot of politicians believed in making the country an economic super power by 2020 but now have been retaliating and moving the goal to 2050. There are a very few things that we as countrymen can make in making the country better. Fiscal deficit is the key term for any country which defines the way a country is progressing and more often for a developing country like India, the expenditures are more than the income. The Governments tr...

Have we lost our Identity?

India - For years we had been a nation enriched with best culture, traditions and lifestyle. The way our people lived were like an example to many other nations. Rich in language, religion and art we were the dominating ones and perhaps the old ones around the world. Our civilization was the best and well-studied/researched by several scholars. Although divided by caste, religion and language, we were exhibiting unity in our relationships. A flurry of cultures thronged this part of the world for long and survived the test of times. We worshiped God – Nature as well. We lived the way Vedas taught us to live. The Kings ruled as per the customs that were established and written by Vedic Gurus. Each and every man lived the way according to his duties that were planned. Everyone followed the Dharma and complemented each other. We were great predictors of the future through astrology and great scholars of the functioning and effects of the solar system’s objects movements. We were the firs...

Healthcare ~ 2018

At the time when the Indian Govt. has finally realized the importance of healthcare, let us go over the necessity of the hour to unleash the vitality of healthcare services in the country. The nation with over 1.5 billion people, it is true to provide quality medical services to the people, but did we ever take any steps to provide even the basic infrastructure for the common man? Millions of death in the nation has occurred due to ignorance. Common man has been deprived of free basic medical facilities. With over 15-20% of the population still below the poverty line, providing the basic infrastructure is the biggest challenge of the Govt. and this Govt. has ensured the necessity of it and has come up with a wonderful plan to cover over 0.5 billion people providing them with basic amenities. The current budget has a lot to go with the massive allocation of funds in this sector. For sure this sector is going to grow rapidly in the next 5 years. Lot of investment in the healthcare ...

India Budget #2018

Some say “Better late than never”, while others believe “What’s the point when everything is lost?”. This budget by NDA puts them in people’s minds to make them feel that they are important, but is it too little too late? Common man had seen insurmountable difficulties in the name of #GST and #DeMo. Farmers were battling hard to survive in this market. Education and health care were over looked so far. Has the Govt. finally reacted? Has the Govt. realized its mistake on ignoring the needs of the hour. A look at the budget in a neutral perspective. Agriculture – The first thing that comes to my mind is the farmers. They have been so far neglected and have been facing lots of issues with respect to pricing. Finally the Govt. has started noticing the importance of them (especially after the Gujarat mandate). A massive boost to them in terms of improvement in pricing and assurance from the Govt. on offering the increased price. Separate welfare schemes for village and rural infrast...

BrahminGiri ~ A change in Perception

For over hundreds of years, Brahmins were held high above other castes and were given special privileges by the rulers of the lands. Their job was to teach Vedas to their disciples and guide them towards reaching the eternal. There were GuruKulas where the Brahmin kids used to learn more about God and traditions of our society. They were deployed in temples and were the designated ones to perform Poojas to the Supreme power on this planet. Since the last two hundred years, where there have been massive revolutions across the globe for freedom, the mistreatment of the lower castes begun to drop down even in India. The liberals such as Periyar contributed a lot towards treating everyone equally without any bias and give equal benefits to all. To a great extent he was the primary force behind upliftment of the financially and socially backward caste groups. The Reservation factor was introduced and that helped these people a lot in getting equal Education and Jobs in the society. ...

IT jobs ~ Over the years #DWBI

2006 - The year of IT that saw great spending and investment in the sector enabling creation of thousands of jobs in India. Particularly US did great investment with Banking and Finance and Healthcare being the driving domains where Business flourished globally. Me being in the Data warehousing and Business Intelligence horizontal was a true gift considering the velocity with which the sector was growing. Huge demand was there for Business Intelligence, Developers and Testers alike were hired in batches. Doing an Engg. In Electronics and Communication and IT were truly favorable at those times. India was growing with great pace especially in the IT sector. The INR too was weak and the Dollar up enabling massive profits for IT giants. 2008 – The Lehman Brothers collapse leading to the entire reshuffle and reorganization of the leading Banks in the world. Almost all the sectors drove southwards due to this big fall of the Banks. Thousands lost their jobs but considering this as a o...

Where is Rs. 5 ????

The Markets may have been at a record high. The financial status of large caps might have gone north. But those small and medium sector enterprises which are the backbone of people's life has gone drastically south. Due to #DEMO and #GST the consumers and traders are hit hard. Although I have written many posts raising this issue, I certainly feel a need to write this especially at the time when Congress has performed better in Gujarat reflecting people's sentiments against these policies. The PM has been trying to bring alternate healthcare services like Organic/Traditional natural products in the market and appreciable in terms of bringing up life, medical and accident insurances for all the common man especially who are poor and can't afford. Yoga has been made a practice in many schools. One Nation - One Rule - One Tax - One Policy  - A scheme which time only will tell if it receives a favorable response from the people. The agenda of this post is to describe how ...

Gujarat Results and its Impact

The entire nation is glued now to know the polls result of Gujarat. The entire nation nation had dismissed Manmohan Singh's poor governance, corruption and policy inefficiencies by bringing a strong leader in Modi. We all had high hopes on Modi. Although he has been taking lots of good measures in improving the infrastructure, they are still in the initial stages and would require at least 5 years to see good results out of it. Certain policy changes like Demonetization, Aadhar link and GST implementation has hit the common man hard while the reforms like these are attributed towards building an organized nation. The problem is that the common man and small, medium businesses are most affected by these implementations. The Govt could have taken soft and slow steps in implementing it but the rush, velocity and aggressiveness has been felt and taken hard by the common man. We still are to see more advancements in medical, science, health and space technologies. Defense is one sect...

Media in India

Each and every person likes to know what's going around. People quest for hot and happening news around the corner and even beyond boundaries. Newspapers, magazines feed their search by providing that they look for. Everyday hot news is served all over. The Media (TV) and Internet has taken this to a broader and faster extent. Technlogy has made the whole world to shrink. Nowadays news is available at the finger tip and touch of a button. Social Media has started to be the new part of this. Although various media exists, the significance of TV Media is nothing short of anything. News TV channels are available in abundance in India. Two decades later we were reliant on All India Radio and Doordarshan. Now a dozen of News TV channels broadcast news from all over the world 24/7. What is more astonishing is that the velocity with which the news comes in. Immediate and Live news are caught and read by media. Live reporters are available in the news happening places for immediate b...

The Power of God

Billions of people believe in that divine unique power that drives us and the universe. For millions of years the universe has believed to be in place and have witnessed the true nature of God. God created each and every thing in this universe. Especially Indians believe that this life is a cycle. For over a dozen times epics like Ramayana and Mahabharatha happened. The Yugas were cyclic and carried the human race with it. Although it is known that over 80 lakhs living creatues were created by God and we have progressed step by step, it is still unclear to predict the overall life of this universe. It was created, lived, destroyed and re-created - as said by the Saints. The enormity of this universe is mind blowing. God has created this mother nature for us to enjoy and appreciate. Enormous amount of stories are there presenting God as that divine part taking us through our lives and teaching us human values. Even this Kali Yuga is known to have passed millions of years. Scientists t...
