Media in India

Each and every person likes to know what's going around. People quest for hot and happening news around the corner and even beyond boundaries. Newspapers, magazines feed their search by providing that they look for. Everyday hot news is served all over. The Media (TV) and Internet has taken this to a broader and faster extent. Technlogy has made the whole world to shrink. Nowadays news is available at the finger tip and touch of a button. Social Media has started to be the new part of this. Although various media exists, the significance of TV Media is nothing short of anything.

News TV channels are available in abundance in India. Two decades later we were reliant on All India Radio and Doordarshan. Now a dozen of News TV channels broadcast news from all over the world 24/7. What is more astonishing is that the velocity with which the news comes in. Immediate and Live news are caught and read by media. Live reporters are available in the news happening places for immediate broadcast. The strange fact is that these TV channels are able to transmit hot/breaking news every hour. They have the right people at the right places. Although the fact that these channels are a source of knowledge to the people, a tiny fact that they have gone over the limits cannot be ignored.

Rather than publishing news, these channels have become to create news. Even a small event is ballooned and represented with massive mass. Constructive journalism has been follwed by very few TV channels. Most of them have fell to sell their channels and raise their TRPs. Many programmes are designed to meet this criteria. Arguments, Debates and Controversies are given priorities. Politics and Films are given preference. These factors tend to shade over the actual primitive news information. Although these news channels are awarded for various categories every year by the media, most of them fall for generating revenues and profit. News which are significant for the common man are ignored. People's problems are not brought before the screen. Media has thus become a puppet of profit oriented nature.

Very few channels, reporters and programs exist that focuses on common man's problems. Media with enormous power has the ability to make/break Govts. They have the strength to change Govt's policies by taking in the inputs of the people. They are the channel for the path of a common man's verdict and appraisal of the Govt. It has that much power to take the inputs bottom up. Media can change the system, make the Govt to introduce new laws, improve governance and make this world a better place. With great power comes great responsibilities. However most of them tend to ignore this and are directed towards different motive. High time has come for people to react and appreciate only those channels which carry constructive news and follow ethical journalism. It is without doubt that we people based on our views can bring in lot of changes in the way media operates now. Based on our inputs these TV channels can stop generating useless breaking news and deliver what is needed for the common man.
